Please join us as a Knox Internet Ministry (KIM) team member. Maintaining the integrity of the Knox Website is critical to its purpose and fulfillment to our congregation and visitors. We have a significant number of committees and groups in our Knox community that will need to maintain their presence on the Website.
As a KIM team member, you will be a vital part of the ongoing development, promotion of the various website features, and many possible ministry extensions. Among other ways to participate, each of these features will have to be evaluated, tested and feedback provided.
We need team members for the following;
- Moderate or Monitoring posts to forums created for Committees and other ministries
- Reading through the Knox WebPages and verifying that information is accurate and up-to-date
- Browsing the website in many different ways to try to (testing) find problems
- Document and report issues found on the website
- Suggest and make recommendations for improvements
- Open avenues for members to express their creativity in our Internet ministry
- Respond to prayer requests
Being a member of the KIM team could turn out to be fulfilling and fun as you get to be involved in a ministry that has never been tried before at Knox. You will be able to contribute to making our Knox website even better. You do not need to be involved in all aspects of the KIM team endeavours and the Knox website development, just choose to contribute with whatever talent you have to offer.
Getting Started
If you don't already have a Knox UC Website account, please register for one by going to the “Create an account” page. KIM team has setup private forums just for some KIM team members. Your account will have to be granted access to the KIM forums. After you login you’ll be able to see the KIM forums. The KIM forums are private as some aspects of the discussions are important to us maintaining the integrity of the website. Please review the “Willing to Serve” opportunities on the Serve at Knox Page. Check the "KIM" checkbox, and then click on the "Match Any Skills" button to list the KIM-related opportunities. Choose one and click the "I am Interested" button, fill out the form and then click submit. You’ll be sent a welcome e-mail when your access to the KIM forums is enabled.
Please do not request to be a KIM team member if:
- If you are not a member of the Knox United Church
- You want to participate in the other committee forums
- You do not intend to actively participate (inactive member accounts will be removed)
Instructions
Once you have access, we will send you a Welcome to KIM e-mail. Please go through these steps:
- Go to the Knox Internet Ministry on the Online Communities menu
- If you are not already logged in, please login with your ID and password in the left window.
- Verify that you can now see the KIM forums under the header "Knox Internet Ministry."
If you do not see this then an e-mail to us indicating the problem so we can fix it. - Click on "Profile" at the upper left to edit your forum user profile.
- Check the checkbox to the left of "KIM General Discussion" so you can receive general announcements and discussions via e-mail. New announcements are made using this forum.
- Check any other forums that you'd like to receive via e-mail. Each new post on the forums you select will result in an e-mail to you.
- Click on the submit button. Note: You can always return to your profile to modify these settings.
- Please review and monitor the KIM forums of interest and follow instructions from the wecadmin when they post there. Please feel free to post questions and comments.
- You can also pick any of the web-pages in Knox Website to analyze and make notes on it.
- Please post any comments, questions, or issues you have to the appropriate forum. The webmaster will monitor the forums.
